Have you ever found yourself in a situation that made you feel completely out of your depth through lack of knowledge and helpless, well your not on your own because that is how many parents feel when their child is in pain or stressed due to an illness or accident.
In the UK each year according to St John Wales every year, more than half a million children under 5 need to go to hospital after having an accident at home. A further 67,000 are injured or killed simply playing in their gardens. What’s even more frightening is that 83% of parents questioned by Mother & Baby magazine admitted that they wouldn’t remember what to do in an emergency. Fortunately for all of us St Johns Ambulance runs many relevant training courses with one of them being Child & Infant First Aid which covers:
- Managing an emergency
- Bleeding (minor & severe)
- Bones, muscle and joint injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Febrile convulsions
- Head injuries
- Severe allergic reaction
- Unresponsive casualty
These training courses are run all over the UK and they offer taster sessions so you can gain a greater understanding of what’s involved. So we at Amazing Mum’s recommend you take a closer look at these courses because sometimes a little knowledge can make a world of difference.
For more information on this course or many other St John run, why don’t you visit their site on: https://training.stjohnwales.org.uk/course/BASA/ or alternatively contact them on tel: 0345 678 5646.
